Rules & Regulations

These rules apply to every Coastal Beach Carts rental. By taking possession of the cart you agree to follow them. The carts are non-LSV lithium EZ-GO golf carts. They are not street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles and may not be driven on highways.

1. Drivers and passengers

  •  The renter and every additional driver must be 21 or older and hold a valid driver’s license. Additional drivers must be listed on the rental agreement.
  • All riders must sit in a designated seat. Children must be able to sit upright. No standing on the rear, riding the bumper, or exceeding the seat count (4-passenger or 6-passenger).
  • Do not operate the cart under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Obey posted speed limits, stop signs, and the same traffic rules that apply to cars in the approved zone.

2. Where you may drive

  • Stay on approved community roads, private property, designated paths, and permitted beach areas only.
  • Do not drive on Hwy 98, Hwy 71, or Cape San Blas Road (CR 30E), except at a marked golf-cart crossing where one exists.
  • Port St. Joe: designated city streets only. Windmark Beach: community roads and paths only — no beach driving and no crossing to town or the Cape. Indian Pass and Cape San Blas: local roads and permitted beach access only, with a beach permit when required.
  • Do not drive on sidewalks, bike paths, dunes, or private property you do not have permission to enter.

3. Night driving

  • Carts are equipped with headlights, brake lights, and turn signals. Use headlights after dusk.
  • In the City of Port St. Joe, golf carts with proper lighting may operate from sunset until midnight on designated streets.
  • Lights and signals do not make the cart an LSV and do not allow highway driving. Follow the rules of the zone where the cart was delivered.

4. Battery and charging

  • Do not fully discharge the battery. Do not let the charge drop below 15%.
  • Charge regularly and overnight on multi-day rentals so the cart starts each morning full.
  • ONLY use the provided charger and provided charging cord on a standard household 110/120-volt outlet.
  • A 12-gauge extension cord is provided upon request if the outlet is on a second deck or is not next to the cart. Keep any cord uncoiled, off sharp edges, and out of water.
  • Do not drive the cart while it is plugged in.
  • Misuse of charging, or allowing the battery to drop below 15%, results in a $150 recovery fee. A replacement cart is not guaranteed, and no prorated refund will be issued.

5. Water, sand, and weather

  • Avoid standing water, flooding, and the Gulf. Do not drive through puddles deep enough to reach the floorboard, flooded streets, rain-filled low spots, or any saltwater.
  • Do not drive into the Gulf, a bay, a pool, a canal, or wet sand that can stall or sink the cart.
  • Rinse is not a substitute for staying out of saltwater. Water damage from flooding or the Gulf is renter responsibility.
  • If weather turns severe, park the cart on high, dry ground and contact us.

6. Do not tow, push, or modify the cart

  • Do not tow the cart. Do not push the cart. Do not pull another vehicle, trailer, tube, or cart.
  • Do not jump-start the cart, jump another vehicle from the cart, or disconnect battery cables.
  • Do not remove seats, tops, windshields, hubcaps, or any equipment. Do not add your own charger, lift, or hitch.

7. Care, return, and damage

  • Leave the cart in a safe, accessible spot at pickup, reasonably clean, and plugged in if an outlet is available.
  • Delivery is by 4:00 PM on your arrival date. Pickup is by 9:00 AM on your day of departure. Minimum rental is a full day (8 hours).
  • You are responsible for damage, loss, citations, towing, and dirty-cart fees unless a purchased damage waiver applies under its written terms. The waiver does not cover reckless use, DUI, off-limit roads, unpermitted beach driving, lost keys, charging misuse, or water damage from flooding or the Gulf.

8. Report issues immediately

  • Report issues immediately. Call or text as soon as you notice a warning light, loss of power, unusual noise, steering or brake problem, flat tire, accident, or missing part.
  • Do not keep using a cart that is unsafe. Mechanical issues not caused by misuse are repaired or swapped as soon as we can.
  • If the issue is from charging misuse or a battery left below 15%, the $150 recovery fee applies, a replacement is not guaranteed, and no prorated refund will be issued.

9. Booking and cancellation

  • Reserve online 24/7 at CoastalBeachCarts.Rentals.
  • Because of high demand, standard reservations cannot be canceled or refunded. The No-Hassle Cancellation add-on, if purchased at booking, allows cancellation up to 2 hours before the rental start for a full refund.
